It also means that cities and landscapes are covered in snow, catching snowflakes on your tongue!

They say that each snowflake is unique, which has made them a popular subject for art, drawing, and painting over the years.

If you’ve ever wondered how to learn to draw one yourself, read on!

How to Draw A Snowflake

Step 1

We will draw a series of guidelines for this first step of our guide on drawing a snowflake.

Using a lighter-colored pen for this step is best, as we will erase these lines later.

Using a ruler, draw a line straight down and add two more at the corner of the reference image.

Suppose you can keep the lines the same length. If you have a drawing triangle, you can use it to draw precise angles for your snowflake.

Step 2

When the pencil lines are drawn, let’s add another shape to draw the final snowflake.

While still using a pencil, carefully use your ruler to draw a line between each line you previously drew near the center to form a six-sided hexagon shape.

You can use the reference image as a guide to how your snowflake design should look at this point.

Step 3

All your guides are drawn at this point, and you can start drawing the snowflake correctly.

We drew thick outlines around the guides using the lines you drew in steps 1 and 2.

You still want to use a pencil to create your snowflake design.

Once you’ve redrawn the lines to make it look like the picture, you can erase the inside lines of the hexagon from Step 2 so that the inside of the snowflake has a solid shape.

Step 4

Your snowflake design is now taking shape!

In the next few steps, we’ll show a design you can use for your snowflake, but once you obtain the hang of it, you can modify the design a bit to create some unique snowflake designs.

You can draw some little “arms” from the snowflake design as they appear in the picture.

Once you’ve drawn them, you can erase the base of each arm so they become part of the snowflake’s outline.

Step 5

At this point, your snowflake drawing is almost complete! To complete this design, add a few smaller “arms” to the snowflake as you did in the last step, only much smaller.

Once satisfied with how it looks, you can draw over the pencil outlines with a darker-colored pen or pencil, then erase any pencil lines you used previously.

If you do this, ensure the pen ink is dry before erasing it! If you erase too soon, you can smudge the ink.

Step 6

And now you have successfully learned how to draw a snowflake! You should be proud to draw a somewhat complicated project, but there’s one more step before it’s done.

Luckily this step is a lot of fun as you will add some pretty colors to your snowflake design!

We showed one way to colorize your photo, but for this step, let your creativity run free and use all the colors you love!

You can keep a classic light blue as in our example image or use various bright colors to make this snowflake colorful!

Choosing which colors to use is one way to personalize it, but playing around with different artistic mediums is another way.

You can use these acrylic paints, watercolors, crayons, and pencils to create unique colors for your drawing.

Once you obtain the hang of it, you can draw a few different snowflake variations on one page and then use different colors for each!

This is an idea; you can show us how creative you can be.
